The Gratitude Gesture
The gratitude gesture is a physical hand gesture you make towards an object or person you are appreciating, at the same time that you are flowing gratitude from your heart towards that object or person. The gesture reinforces the intention and energy flow coming from your heart. It tells the rest of your being … your eyes that are seeing, your mind that is observing, and all of your other senses, that your action is sincere and purposeful. Doing this regularly builds the vibration of gratitude within you and establishes a habit.
As Mahatma Gandhi once said:
“Our thoughts become our words. Our words become our actions. Our actions become our habits. Our habits become our values. Our values become our destiny.”
We want to establish consciously who we want to be in this world. Gratitude is one of the highest vibrations on the planet so this is a good intention to establish and strive towards.
To begin this practice, at least 10 times each day do the following:
-
- Look around you for something to which you can express gratitude
- Lock onto the thing you wish to express gratitude for
- Generate love and gratitude in your heart space and let it expand and fill it
- Extend your finger (point) or hand (reach out towards) the object of intention and and at the same time say, “I like that,” or, “I love that,” or, “that is amazing (wonderful, awesome, etc)”
- While you have your hand extended toward the object, simultaneously flow the love and gratitude from your heart, down your arm, and direct it out through your hand to the object you are appreciating.
NOTE: No one else needs to know about the bit about flowing the energy out to the object, nor do you need to use the hand gesture when others are present, but feel free to share this practice with others!
